Audio Visual Engineering Supervisor

Location: Saxon House, Wokingham

Department / Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Job Summary

As a key leader in the Rental Audio Visual Department, the AV Test and Preparation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a dynamic AV team, ensuring the timely and high-quality preparation of AV equipment for rental. This role combines technical oversight, team leadership, and process improvement, with a strong emphasis on quality, staff training, and product knowledge development.

 

Responsibilities

  • Proactive Operational Oversight - Supervise and coordinate the daily workload of the AV team to meet inbound and outbound customer expectations. - Prioritise and dynamically plan workshop activities to align with order schedules. - Ensure accurate and timely updates to the Rental Management System (RMS) and delivery schedules.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination - Maintain strong communication with Logistics, Warehouse, Sales, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless operations and resolve issues proactively. - Collaborate on mixed-platform orders (AV & IT) to ensure compatibility and delivery accuracy. - Provide flexible support across the wider operations team when required, assisting with tasks outside of the core AV remit to help meet project deadlines and operational demands.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance - Oversee adherence to ISO standards and internal quality procedures across all AV operations. - Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and improve service delivery. - Ensure fault issues are logged, tracked, and resolved efficiently. - Ensure outbound product order quality and completeness.
  • Product Familiarisation & Training - Lead product familiarisation initiatives to ensure the team is up to date with the latest AV technologies and equipment. - Develop and deliver structured training programs for new and existing staff to enhance technical skills and customer service standards. - Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Customer & Sales Support - Provide expert pre- and post-sales technical support to internal sales teams and customers. - Act as a point of escalation for complex AV queries and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Inventory & Process Management - Maintain stock accuracy of AV equipment and peripherals. - Identify equipment shortages and liaise with procurement to ensure availability. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline AV rental processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • - Proven experience as an AV engineer or supervisor in the events or exhibition industry.
  • - Strong understanding of ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.
  • - Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • - Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • - Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe as required.
  • - Full clean driving licence
