Company History

global IT Rental

Hamilton Rentals was incorporated in 1972, providing short term rental of electronic office, computer and Audio Visual and test and measurement equipment.

Acquired by Atlantic Computers in 1987, Hamilton was subject to a management buyout in 1990 following the closure of Atlantic and Atlantic’s parent, British and Commonwealth Merchant Bank.

In 1997, the company was acquired by Stock Exchange listed Compel Group plc. Hamilton acquired competitors, Computer Micro Rentals and the rental division of P&P Micro’s, then acquiring two of its biggest competitors, Syscap Rentals in 2003 and Hire IT in 2005 respectively. Following the acquisition of Compel by private equity funded 2e2 in 2007 and still majoring on short term computer rental, Hamilton Rentals was subject to a management buyout (MBO) in July 2008.

2010 Hamilton established a division called Hamilton Asset Management to specialise in the provision of whole of life IT asset management services including secure data erasure/destruction, IT recycling, resale of refurbished equipment and full audit final disposition, compliant with environmental legislation.

In January 2011 Hamilton Rentals was acquired by the XTG Group and continued to specialise in rental of IT & AV Equipment and associated evaluation services from the leading IT manufacturers including Oracle, IBM, Hewlett Packard, AMD, Lenovo and Samsung.

In August 2013 Hamilton Rentals was subject to a Management Buy Out (MBO) and split from Xchange Technology Group. This has enabled the company to concentrate on the UK IT Rental market with a renewed focus on its event management and product evaluation services for its key technology vendors.

In February 2017 Hamilton Rentals was acquired by Bell Integration. Bell and Hamilton Rentals are of the shared belief that combining forces will enable further growth of the businesses by extending customer base, creation of cross-selling opportunities and facilitating access to improved financing arrangements for Hamilton Rentals.

Founded in 1996, Bell Integration is a fast growing IT services and consulting company with annual revenues of close to £170m; it’s at the forefront of helping companies drive costs from their operations and improve their ability to engage with customers - either by supporting the growth of their channels to market, or by aiding their responsive and service quality. Portal is an award-winning technical service and analytics business offering consulting and managed services business focuses on delivering robust Collaboration, Analytics and Integration solutions across a range of industries in the UK.

Currently Bell, Portal and Hamiltons have a combined workforce with over 350 permanent employees and over 50 associates employed in locations in London, Portsmouth, Bracknell, Stevenage, Scotland, Singapore and Hyderabad, India with many based directly at customer sites.
